September 4th Week

We had a great day at the Walkathon! Thank you to all of the parents who came and volunteered. There is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY! Enjoy your labor day weekend!



- There are many students who have not paid for the field trip. The payment is for $28. Field Trip money is Due ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 7th!
-We will be tracking out on Friday, September 7th. There will be no school until October 1st.

Congrats to Annaliese, Finley and Wade for getting their names added to Shoe-tying board! I hope to have all 20 students on the board by CHRISTMAS :)

What we will be learning next week.
Reading-Retelling across your fingers, and using the pictures to help us recall important information from the book.
-If your child comes home with a colored reading bag, please have your child read the book and return it the next day. I have begun reading groups, so the books they come home with they should be able to read on their own. Right now, your child is in a group once a week. When we come back in October, the meeting days will pick up!
Letterland: I, N, G, O (Alphablocks is a great series to watch on Youtube. They have short 5 minute videos to reinforce letters, blends, and plurals)
Writing: Narrative stories about pets.
Math: Numbers 1-10, Review of 1 more & 1 less.
Social Studies/Science: Animals

August 27th

We had a great week! Thank you to the parents that assisted with tie-dying shirts today! I will pass out the shirts next Friday for the Walk-A-Thon. Please continue sending in Walk-A-Thon donation packets.
- PICTURE DAY IS ON MONDAY! PLEASE SEND IN THE PICTURE FORM MONDAY MORNING!




- There are many students who have not turned in their Field Trip form and/or paid. If you have lost your form, please let me know. Reminder, the front and the back need to be filled out. The payment is for $28. If you plan to pay online you must do so before September 7th. You can also pay by cash or check.
- Next week I will begin assessing for the end of the quarter. I will be checking reading levels, sight words, letters/sounds, counting objects to 10, counting to 20, writing numbers to 10. I will be holding first quarter conferences in October after you have received the Report Card.
-Homework.... Please let your child hold the pencil and do their work. It is ok to help them, but it does not help the student if the parent completes the HW.

August 20th Week

Important News:



To help learn the sight words, please complete HW and also make flashcards for the words that are difficult for your child.  We have learned: I, a, see, the, my, like, by, big, little, can

Gift cards are a great wishlist item because it allows me to purchase things for our classroom as they come up. I prefer Walmart and Dollar Tree for classroom materials.



Field Trip to Hill Ridge Farm- Be on the lookout from the Room Mom's to be a chaperone. I will need 8 Chaperones. No siblings will be allowed and adults will have to pay at the gate. Please pay by September 7th!

August 6th Week

Important News:
  • Interims will be coming home next Friday. We are halfway through Quarter 1 of Kindergarten (YES IT GOES VERY FAST). Please practice sight words, letters and sounds, and counting over the weekend.

What we are learning next week:
Sight Words: can, little, is
Letterland: We are learning letter Q-X.. Students need to be able to look at a picture and identify the first sound. You can use this chart with your children to practice. Ask what letter? Who is this? What sound does it make?  "A, Annie Apple, 'a sound' "
Reading: We are continuing to learn about reading behaviors. We will be learning how to retell and reread familiar books. We will also look closely at characters in the book.
Math: Intro to numbers 1-5.
Writing: We will write a sentence using our sight words. "I like the, I like a, I like my"
Social Studies: We will be finishing up our 5 senses unit.
