Feb. 19th Week

Mark your calendars! We track out on February 2nd!! On March 24th, we have Saturday school.


Wish list: We are still in need of a new work filing station. Please check our amazon page for what specifically we need. We are also needing the following items:
   - glue sticks
   - glue bottles
   - cardstock (both colored and white)
   - dollar tree gift card (a lot of our reading baskets and bins are breaking and I would like to purchase a few new ones).

Math: We are continuing subtraction and addition word problems. Please continue to work on fact fluency specifically within 5 both addition and subtraction.

Reading: We are continuing our unit on informational books! We love being able to read to learn. By the end of the 3rd quarter (which is coming up very soon), students should be reading on a level C (3/4) and be able to identify 50 sight words.

Writing: We are continuing our home unit. We will be writing about our dream homes this week! Hopefully, we will spark some imagination and get great writing results.

February 6th Week


This weekend, we will have our first Saturday School. There will be NO LUNCH SERVED, so please bring a snack! We will be celebrating Valentines Day on Wednesday, February 14th at 1pm. If you would like to volunteer please let Jennifer Oldson know :)





Star Students for last week: Josephine and Riley

Math: We are starting subtraction within 5. We are also reviewing addition within 10.

Reading: We are starting our unit on informational books! We love being able to read to learn :)

Social Studies: We are continuing our maps units. We are learning about Urban, Suburban, and Rural areas.

Writing: We are learning about historic African Americans to celebrate Black History Month! So far we have learned about Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson.

January 29th Week

Hooray, we have made it through a full week!

We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Tuesday! If you have not already, please send in your snack contribution Monday :) We will also be celebrating Valentines Day on Wednesday, February 14th at 1pm. If you would like to volunteer please let Jennifer Oldson know :)

- Homework: I am sending home a new sight word practice sheet. This should be done as extra practice for students. Right now we have about 7 students turning this in consistently! As a reward, next week all students who turn in at least one sight word practice activity will get to move their clip up. Reminder, homework is to be completed by the student. While it is okay to help students...adult handwriting and pictures are very noticeable :)

Star Student: Cara

Math: We will continue to work on addition within 10.

Reading: We are finishing up our "We can be Reading Teachers" Unit! If your child brings home a book, please make sure it returns to school the next day!

Social Studies: We are beginning maps!

Writing: We are continuing our informational writing unit! This week we will work on farm animals!

January 16th Week

January 16th Week

Congrats to our Star Student Charlotte!!!




We will be having Saturday school on January 20th! Brassfield will NOT be serving lunch or breakfast. Please send your child with a snack. If you know that your child will not be attending please let me know.


Brassfield has begun Kindergarten Registration. If you know if any upcoming Kinders please send them our way to register :)


I have asked Mrs. Oldson to create a signup for volunteers and secret reader for the new year. If you are interested please let her know.


We will be having a learning experience on Valentine's Day at 1:00 pm. If you are interested please let Mrs. Oldson or myself know.


I have updated the wish list on Amazon. The classroom needs a new mailbox filing container, if you are interested in helping out the class please let me know. We also need fruit loops for next weeks math activity.

Writing: We will be writing informational pieces about Mittens next week!

Thanksgiving Learning Experience: Please let Mrs. Oldson (Room Mom) know if you would like to help out at our learning experience. It will be next Tuesday November 21st from 9:30-10:30! We also need a few donations for that: tissue paper, cheerios, gloves, and goldfish! If you are available to send in any of those items please let her know!

Halloween Week

October 30th Week-


We will be having our storybook character parade on Tuesday! Students are allowed to dress up, please send in a book to match their outfit.

The Week of October 23rd

October 16th Week -
Thursday is the Field Trip! We will leave at 9:30, chaperones please meet us at Hill Ridge at 10 (if not earlier). You will need to check in at Hill Ridge before we arrive. Please have your child wear their tie-dye shirts! We will eat back at school!

Friday is the Super Reading power celebration. Students may wear a super hero costume or shirt. Please send in a change of clothes, if they are wearing a costume :)

We will be having a Halloween Learning Experience! Please contact Mrs. Oldson if you would like to contribute or participate.

Books are coming home on their instructional level :) They must be able to properly retell and answer comprehension questions before moving on!
